Even the easiest plants have their issues sometimes. Let's talk about common succulent problems and what you can do to keep them happy.
1. Overwatering Troubles
Overwatering is one of the most common problems gardeners face and it can harm plants severely. When you give plants too much water, their roots can rot and they may start to wilt or turn yellow. To avoid this, always check the soil before watering by sticking your finger about an inch into the soil. If it feels dry, then it’s time to water. Using pots with drainage holes is also very important so excess water can drain out easily. Remember, most plants prefer being a little dry rather than too wet. Learning the right watering schedule keeps your plants healthy and strong.
2. Stretching Toward Light
If your succulent looks leggy, it's craving more sunlight. Move it to a brighter spot with indirect light to help it grow properly.
3. Pest Prevention
Tiny bugs like mealybugs or aphids can sneak in. Wipe leaves with alcohol or use insecticidal soap to keep your succulents clean.

The Aloe Vera Plant That Reminded Me to Be Kind to Myself
In the middle of a burnout spiral, I bought an aloe vera plant because I heard it was “impossible to kill.” I thought, “Great, a plant as low-maintenance as I wish my life was.” I didn’t expect it to teach me anything. But over time, that spiky green little thing on my windowsill became a quiet mirror for my own healing. As I learned how to care for it, I started caring for myself, too. One leaf, one breath, one slow day at a time.

How I Accidentally Became a Plant Mom and Grew a Jungle in My Living Room
This wasn’t part of the plan. I was never the “green thumb” type. My past with plants? Tragic. I once killed a cactus by forgetting it existed. But during one very boring winter, after a breakup and one too many sad movies, I bought a peace lily from the clearance rack at the grocery store. I named her Martha. I figured if she lasted a week, it would be a miracle. Three years later, I’m living in what friends lovingly call “The Jungle.” This is the story of how I accidentally became a plant mom—and kind of found myself along the way.
