Nematodes in Your Garden? Here's How to Fight Back Naturally

Not all nematodes are bad, but the parasitic ones are troublemakers. They attack plant roots, causing stunted growth, yellow leaves, and overall weak plants. You won't see them, but the damage to your garden is very real. If your plants look sad for no clear reason, nematodes might be to blame.

Crop rotation is your best friend—don't grow the same plant in the same spot every year. Solarizing your soil (covering it with plastic to heat it up) can also kill off harmful nematodes. Adding compost and organic matter boosts beneficial microbes that help control the bad guys.

Once you know you've got nematodes, try planting marigolds—they release compounds that reduce nematode populations. You can also use neem cake (a byproduct of neem oil) or beneficial nematodes that prey on the harmful ones. It takes time, but your soil and plants will bounce back with a little care.
