Learn how to grow fresh, crispy leafy greens right in your kitchen—no garden required!

1. Choose Your Greens Wisely

Not all greens are the same when it comes to indoor growing. Some, like lettuce, arugula, and Swiss chard, grow quickly and don’t need deep pots. These leafy champs are perfect for small indoor spaces and give you a steady supply of fresh greens for salads or sandwiches.

2. Set Up Your Growing Area

You don’t need a fancy setup—just a sunny windowsill or a small table with a grow light. Use shallow trays or small pots with good drainage, and fill them with light potting soil. Make sure the spot gets at least 6 hours of light per day, and more is better.

3. Water and Harvest Regularly

Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Greens love consistent moisture. When they’re 4–6 inches tall, snip the outer leaves and let the center keep growing. You’ll get multiple harvests from the same plants. It’s super rewarding—and tasty too!
